Ear to the ground part deux

Monday, August 25, 2008

450 persons responded to our ear to the ground survey. That's pretty remarkable as these types of surveys go and gives a good sense of how passionate folks are about making music. So thanks to each of you who took the time to respond.

You gave us a boatload of input about new songs to add to the catalog. The team is working thru the list and we'll be adding many of them over the coming weeks and months.

And you gave us some good feedback on things we can do to improve the site. A number of you asked for a forum, so folks could compare notes and share their experiences learning music. A forum has always been on the development list -- now it's moved to the top of the list. Look for its debut early this fall.

We also got some great feedback that speaks to the whole idea of iVideosongs -- overwhelmingly, you told us that having original artists involved helps inspire you, and that the ability to learn a complete and accurate song is very important. Maybe not surprising, but cool nonetheless.

We'll do more surveys from time to time. But don't wait if you have input -- the suggestions box is always open.

What exactly did you get out of the survey? I do not understand why you did not gear the survey towards the customer. Possible affective question you could ask: "Do you find the tab/chord grids helpful?" or "Is the instruction easy to follow and implement in your own playing?" Just some thoughts for your next survey...

I love your site but I'd love to be able to buy more than one tune at a time and have to enter my cc every time. Is this why you still say Beta?

My dad loves your site!!

Do you know a site like yours that has songs for those of us under 50?

I think if you guys could either create other sites for the younger generations or start selling some songs from the 90's forward, that would be cooool!

I don't know if you've searched the catalog, but I see Switchfoot, Sister Hazel, Third Day, Eric Mongrain (Way Cool...), Norah Jones, Avril Lavigne, Goo Goo Dolls, Incubus and more.

Seems to me like a lot of content for under 50's!

I also like that there are songs that I can play with my dad.

Now that's coool.

I'd much rather see lots of new songs from your excellent instructors than wait for original artists, although that's cool too.

I love the idea, great concept to learn the song CORRECTLY. I've had enough with inaccurate tabs. Use the on-staff instructors to get more tunes out there. More Country please.
