FAQ: About the Videos
What's the purpose of the beta?
The iVideosongs beta is all about getting customer feedback. We started with an idea we're passionate about and now we're
looking for help from other musicians to make it better. General comments should be directed to
support@ivideosongs.com.
How often is the catalog updated?
The beta catalog features a sample of iVideosongs titles. We'll be adding more songs to the catalog each week. We are also
asking for feedback about the songs customers want to learn to play. New title requests should be directed to
suggest-songs@ivideosongs.com.
How long does it take for a requested song to be added to your catalog?
There are several factors that affect this, including the volume of requests for a particular song and the interest among
publishers and artists to make it available. Unfortunately in some cases the required legal clearances for a specific song
may take a long time to get or in worst cases, may never be released.
Are iVideosongs titles available worldwide?
Many iVideosongs titles are available to customers worldwide. There are some titles that may not be available in one region
or another because of publishers' restrictions or other legal issues beyond our control.
Do I have legal rights to the songs I purchase from iVideosongs?
Yes. iVideosongs offers only titles that have been legally cleared by publishers and artists. This means customers legally
own the titles they've purchased from iVideosongs. For more information, please see our full
Terms of Use.

Can I share the iVideosongs titles I purchase with friends, on Internet video or file sharing sites?
No. Our contract with you allows you to enjoy iVideosongs titles on your own personal computer, iPod or other device. The
contract specifically prohibits sharing these copyrighted titles with others, posting on Internet video sites or file sharing
sites, or otherwise making iVideosongs content available over an electronic network where it could be accessed by others.

How much space should I allocate on my computer for an iVideosongs title?
Make sure you have plenty of disk space. Allow at least 2 times more disk space than the file size itself. For a 200 MByte
movie file, for example, you may need as much as 400 MBytes of free disk space.

How big are iVideosongs titles and how long should they take to download to my computer?
iVideosongs titles generally range in size from 200 MB to more than 500 MB. The download time will vary depending on your
Internet connection speed. With a typical DSL or cable modem, a file may take 15 - 30 minutes to download. After downloading
them to your computer or device, you will be able to enjoy them as often as you like, wherever you like, and won't need
access to the Internet to do so.
iVideosongs titles are all shot in high definition, with a 1280 x 720 resolution. That's a big file that takes a very long
time to arrive at common ISP download speeds. Today and throughout our beta period, we're delivering the files at a 960
x 540 resolution. This is about the same size as Apple TV - really good quality in our opinion and a reasonable time to
get it squeezed thru the pipe and to your machine. We'll continue to monitor customer feedback on this topic and may offer
the larger file size option in the future if demand merits it. And check our FAQ for the protocol to adapt the file to your
iPod or other mobile device.

Why won't the download complete?
If you're having problems starting or completing a download, first:
- Make sure you're using a newer web browser, such as Safari, Firefox 2 or Internet Explorer 7. You can eliminate some problems
by closing and reopening the browser, clearing its cache and removing unneeded cookies. Then try again from the beginning.
- Make sure you have plenty of disk space. Allow at least 2-3 times more disk space than the file size itself.
- Timing is everything – the problem may be with the Internet service or at our end. So try again later.
- Are you connecting from work? Some companies configure their firewalls to prohibit downloads. Try from home or check with
your system administrator.

Where did my file go?
Depending on the browser used to download your purchase, and the action you take when the download starts, files may "disappear"
at the end of initial playback.
To avoid "losing" a file, we caution that, whenever your browser offers a choice to "Save" or "Open"/"Run" upon start of
download, you should always choose "Save" and direct the download to the desired location on disk.
If you're reading this caution after "losing" a download, following are suggestions for recovery of lost ivs_*.mov files:
FireFox
- From the Firefox "Tools" menu, open "Downloads" ...
- Right click on "Open" next to the .mov in the Downloads list and select "Open Containing Folder"
- Move the file to the desired location on the disk or "Open" the file from "Downloads" and "Save as" from your media player.
- If the file didn't show in the recent list, check your Desktop (the default destination for downloads unless otherwise specified)
- If not on your Desktop, go to Tools/Options - Main
- See where downloaded files are being directed. Look in that directory for ivs_*.mov files.
- To improve future download experiences, go to "Tools/Options - Privacy" and check "Remember what I've downloaded", so the Downloads
tool will lead you to "lost" files.
Internet Explorer 7.0 and greater
- Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options".
- On the "General" Tab, click the Settings button in the "Browsing History" section.
- On the "Temporary Internet Files" dialog, click the "View Files" button.
- Windows explorer will be launched with a list of files in your Internet cache.
- Look for files by name "ivs_<title you purchased_instrument category>*.mov".
Internet Explorer 6.0
- Go to the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options".
- Windows explorer will be launched with a list of files in your Internet cache.
- On the Settings dialog, click the View Files... button.
- Windows explorer will be launched with a list of files in your Internet cache.
- Look for files by name "ivs_<title you purchased_instrument category>*.mov".

What is the resolution of iVideosongs high-def titles?
iVideosongs titles are all shot in high definition, with a 1280 x 720 resolution. That's a big file that takes a very long
time to arrive at common ISP download speeds. In order to make the download and storage process more manageable, we're delivering
the files at a 960 x 540 resolution. This is about the same size as Apple TV – really good quality in our opinion and a
reasonable time to get it squeezed thru the pipe and to your machine. We'll continue to monitor customer feedback on this

Please make sure that your are using QuickTime version 7.0 or greater.
You can download the most current version from
www.apple.com/quicktime/download.
If you experience choppy or out-of-synch playback in
QuickTime on Windows setting QuickTime to run in
"Safe Mode" may solve your video display problem. You can set QuickTime to do this as follows:

- Click on the menus Edit \ Preferences \ QuickTime
Preferences...
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Under the Video section select Safe mode (GDI only).
- Click the OK button.

If putting QuickTime into Safe Mode doesn't resolve the playback problem, we suggest you try and play the video in the Free
Adobe Media Player that can be downloaded at: www.adobe.com/products/mediaplayer.
This new player will play our h.264 content and is a good alternative if you are having QuickTime compatibility problems.
This player will run on both windows and Mac.
